Easy Pizookie Recipe
If you’re looking for an easy dessert, this pizookie recipe is perfect! It’s simple to make like my chocolate chip cookie pie but no pie crust. Just imagine eating a big, warm chocolate chip skillet cookie topped with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge and chocolate chips.
Over the weekend, we made one of our favorite desserts: the pizookie (also known as a cookie pizza or skillet chocolate chip cookie). If you’ve tried one at Oregano’s or BJ’s before, you know how delicious they are. Luckily, it’s easy to recreate at home!
What is a Pizookie?
It’s simply a hybrid term that combines the two words “pizza” and “cookie.” It’s included on the menu at both Oregano’s and BJ’s restaurant and is served in a large cast iron skillet.
It’s essentially a big cookie pizza that’s warm, gooey and usually topped with ice cream and chocolate chips. Another name for it is skillet cookie or cookie pizza. After one bite, you’ll totally understand the hype around this delicious dessert!
Pizookie Recipe Ingredients
This pizookie recipe only takes a few simple ingredients and bakes up perfectly every time. The end result is a warm, soft and gooey giant cookie that’s full of delicious chocolate flavor.
- Cookie dough: You can use homemade chocolate chip cookie dough or store purchased.
- Ice cream: Vanilla ice cream is a classic pairing but any flavor will do!
- Chocolate chips: For sprinkling on top after the pizookie is done.
How to Make a Pizookie
Start by preparing the dough. You can make your own favorite cookie dough or use store-bought dough…both work great!
Press dough firmly into 10″ cast iron skillet. Bake for 20 minutes, or until just barely crisp on the outside and gooey on the inside.
Top with ice cream, hot fudge and chocolate chips. Serve while warm!
Cooking Tips
- Individual size: We like to use ramekin pans, mini foil pie or bread pans. Scoop cookie dough in and flatten about 1/2-1″ thick. Bake at 350°F for about 6-8 minutes, or until just brown on the edges but gooey in the middle. Remove from oven and let cool for a couple minutes. Top them off and serve warm!
- Don’t over bake: This is probably the most important tip. Take out while it still look underdone in middle. I’ve over baked mine and it’s just not the same. The best part about a pizookie is the gooey center.
- Customize: You can add in your favorite mix in’s. Swap out the chocolate chips for M&M’s, white chocolate chips, crushed oreos (or do half and half).
- Make it easy: When you don’t have much time, pick up some Nestle cookie dough from the store and use that.

Ingredients
- 16.5 ounces cookie dough (homemade or store-bought)
- 6 scoops vanilla ice cream
- ¼ cup mini chocolate chips
Optional: Hot fudge for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Prepare cookie dough according to directions or use pre-made dough.
- Press dough firmly into a 8 or 10" cast iron skillet. I like to add extra chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until barely crisp around the edges but still gooey on the inside.
- Top with vanilla ice cream, chocolate chips and hot fudge. Serve while warm.

I have enjoyed reading this blog “iheartnaptime.net/pzookie/”. It is a combination of baking your favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough into cookies. The idea is not to over bake the dough into really dry cookies. While they are still moist in the center, top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a hand full of chocolate chips – dig in with a roomy spoon! It should work well every time you make it. Enjoy!

Funny, we just had pizzookies last night. We love Oreganos and love pizzookies. Though, we’ve found that we prefer to make our own – Oregsnos and especially BJ’s tend to overcook the dough. It should be only half-baked so it’s still nice and gooey. Yum!

I LOVE Pizookies! One of my most favorite treats ever! Firehouse Pizza( in Cache County Utah) has the BEST ones I have ever tasted! Thanks for sharing. Now I am going to go make myself some!(I have the SAME jam jars that you used for yours!)………….
Pizookies are my absolute fave. I will use Nestle or if I am totally motivated I will make my own dough. I make them in those glass ramekins you can find cheap at Walmart, etc. If you cook them in there they indent in the middle which is the perfect spot for a glob of icecream. Everyone goes crazy for this dessert and it takes no time at all.
Do you bake them at the same temperature in the ramekins? And how long do they take? Thanks!
