3 Ingredients
What I love about these lil smokies is that they are made with just 3 simple ingredients in the crock pot! Find the printable recipe below.
- Little smokies: AKA mini pork cocktail sausages. I love the Hillshire farm brand.
- BBQ sauce: Sweet Baby Ray’s is my go-to barbecue sauce for this recipe. You could also add in a squeeze of ketchup.
- Brown sugar: I love the sweetness this adds. You could omit or swap with grape jelly if you prefer.
- Worcestershire sauce: This is optional, but I love adding a dash for extra flavor. Sometimes I’ll add a dash of garlic powder as well.

Recipe FAQ
The smokies are fully cooked, so all you need to do is let them marinate in the sauce while they heat up. It should only take about an hour or two for the lil smokies to warm up in the crockpot.
Yes, they are the same. These mini sausages come pre cooked and are available at grocery stores in beef or pork.
If you have leftover lil smokies, they will keep in the fridge for about 3 to 5 days. Just make sure to store in an airtight container.
To reheat, simply microwave for 1-2 minutes or cook in a pot on the stove until warm. You could also warm back up for a few minutes in the oven as well, if preferred.
I love to serve them with toothpicks. You can also serve them with mini forks.
Yes, you can freeze lil smokies. Allow to cool and then store in a covered container. If using a frozen pack for this recipe, allow to thaw slightly and then add to crockpot. You may need to add an extra hour to cook time if they are not thawed.

Excellent! Sweet Baby Rays, Brown Sugar, Worcestershire Sauce. Wonderful 5 star
So glad they were a hit! Thanks for your review Mark :)
All three of my kids devoured these! The youngest asked me to make them again for Christmas- so easy! Thank you!
Great recipe – reminds me Christmas parties when I was a little kid!
Me too! We had these at every holiday party!
I never have grape jelly on hand, so I love that these call for brown sugar instead. Still delicious!!!
Yes, just as delicious! :)
I use to make this years ago. Doing it this year. Same recipe except I used a 1/4 tsp of dry mustard instead of Worcestershire sauce.
Everyone loves them, take home empty crock pot, even the sauce is gone. I give it a 5*.
So glad to hear everyone loved them :)
Had always had these using grape jelly but found your recipe and decided to try it. Totally agree with you; liked them much better using brown sugar. They were easy to make, delicious and everyone loved them. What more can you ask for in an appetizer?
There are never enough of these! Glad you liked the brown sugar flavor, Vicki.
very simple to make…….tastes great too!!!!!!!!!!!
So glad to hear they turned out! Thanks for your review :)
Easy peasy!
We’ve always used grape jelly. The smokies were ready in exactly 2.5 hours. I tend to over or under cook… not this time 👍🏻
Can’t wait to do it again with the light brown sugar – crowd pleaser for sure!
I’m so glad they were a hit, Kristy! :)
Could you use chipotle sauce or some chili powder in place of chili sauce?
I haven’t tried, but I don’t se why not. It will just have a little different flavor.
Simply the best appetizer!
Great taste and easy to fix. Family loved it
So glad it was a hit with the family!
My family loved these!!
My family love this for Christmas snake I will be making it more often
How many does this recipe feed? Should I double it for a crowd of 20? Other food will be served as well. Thanks
Hi Kristen! There are 16 servings in this recipe. If there are going to be a bunch of other appetizers I think it should be fine, but if there are only a couple other appetizers, I would double the recipe.
What kind of bbq sauce did everyone use?
I prefer Sweet Baby Ray’s
I just made some using the sweet baby rays! Definitely my goto BBQ sauce!
I love that kind too!
Very Good!! Tasty, Popular, and Delicious!
Made it and so delicious, I was wondering if I can use large hotdogs, such as frankfurters, in place if the little smokies.
I haven’t tried it before, but I think that should be fine! The flavor might not be as strong or soak in as much on the hot dogs, but I think it would still taste good!
