How to make fluffy slime with only 3 ingredients. It is super soft and stretchy! It only takes 5 minutes to make and will entertain for hours!
Indoor Kids Activity
Oh SLIME. Me and this stuff have a love hate/relationship. My kids love it though, so I’ve learned to accept it.
If you’ve ever wondered how to make fluffy slime, this recipe is seriously the best ever! We love it because it only takes 3 ingredients and takes less than 5 minutes to make. The kids love helping me make it and it entertains them for hours! It is so soft and squishy!
During our Spring break last week it was cold and rainy, so this was the perfect indoor activity for my kids to do. It holds together more which is great! My kids like this fluffy slime better than my slime recipe and glitter slime because it can stretch further and the consistency is perfect although my butter slime is still smoothest of of them all!
Fluffy Slime Ingredients
For this slime you only need 3 simple ingredients (that you can probably find around your home). I love that this fluffy slime is made without borax. You can also add any color you’d like (or even mix them).
- 1 (4-ounce) bottle Elmer’s white school glue
- 2 Tablespoons multi purpose contact lenses solution
- 1 – 2 cups shaving cream
- Food coloring, optional
How To Make Fluffy Slime
- Combine. To get started place the glue in a plastic bowl. If you’re adding food coloring, add it now. Once it is your desired color add the saline solution and mix until combined.
- Stir. Then stir in 1-2 cups of shaving cream. The more you add the thicker it will be. The less you add the slimier it will be. We usually end up adding about 1 1/2 cups. Stir until you can no longer stir (this should take several minutes).
- Kneed. Next you’ll kneed it with your hands. It will be sticky at first, but keep moving it with your hands until it is no longer sticky and is the right consistency.
- Play. Get your hands in there and have some fun!
Mixing 2 colors
We made our first batch of fluffy slime pink and then the next one purple.
To make this fluffy slime with more than one color, simply make another batch and then lay them right next to each other. Then stretch it out and twist it together so the colors swirl together. It will end up looking something like this.

Fluffly Slime Recipe
Video
Equipment
- Plastic bowl and spoon.
- Place mat for enjoying slime.
Ingredients
- 4 ounce bottle Elmer’s white school glue
- 2-3 Tablespoons multi purpose contact lenses solution or slime activator , add more as needed
- 1-2 cups unscented shaving cream , use more as needed
Optional: Food coloring
Instructions
- Place glue in a plastic bowl. If you're adding food coloring, you can add it now until desired color is reached. Add saline solution or slime activator and mix until combined.
- Stir in 1 cup of shaving cream. The more you add, the thicker it'll be. The less you add, the slimier it will be. Add 1/2 cup more as needed. I usually end up adding about 1 1/2 cups.
- Stir until you can no longer stir (it will be sticky at first) and then knead with your hands. Keep moving it with your hands until it is no longer sticky and desired consistency is reached. Wash hands if needed and then work on it again. If it's still too sticky, you may need to add another Tablespoon of activator and then keep kneading.
- Enjoy playing with the slime. Store in a covered container or zip top bag.
Notes
Did you make this recipe? Don’t forget to give it a star rating below!
I didn’t actually measure, just eyeballed the ingredients, but even after adding at least twice as much contact solution mine never got to the slimy stage, just sticky and more sticky. I’ll try again later with the baking soda tip someone else mentioned in another comment.
It won’t let me update my previous comment, but here’s my baking soda update: it definitely helped to turn it to a “slime” consistency instead of sticky goo. Yay! But then after another minute or two of kneading/playing with the slime, it started releasing shaving cream from the mixture and getting all over our hands. The slime seemed to be destabilizing and eventually turned into a gooey (but less sticky) mess instead of proper slime. I’m not sure if I used the wrong amount of baking soda? We’re in a very humid part of the world so that may affect things too. I’m hoping to use this recipe for my daughter’s birthday party next week so I’ll keep trying!
Can I use a mixer or should I stick to kneading by hand?
I haven’t tried, but worth a shot :)
This worked great! Granddaughter and I made 5 different colours and added sparkle and beads into them. Yes, is sticky in the beginning but kept working it with shaving cream. We also added baking soda to one of the colours too. And it helped a lot Super easy recipe
Thanks for sharing. Sounds like you all had a lot of fun!
My son and I tried so hard to make it we put more contact solution cause it was sticky it got okay but it was so stick we kneeded it and kneeded it and it was so sticky. We will try again another time.
Try adding some baking soda to it at that point. We followed the recipe and could not get it to stop being a sticky mess. Added baking soda and then a tad more contact solution and it became the best slime we ever made.
Just made with my 2.5 yr old granddaughter. Such fun! Just kept squirting in the activator until it wasn’t sticky. (After the addition of shaving cream). FYI. If your kiddo happens to put it in their hair like mine did… I just squirted more activator of her hair and combed out with a fine tooth comb! No big deal!!!
I’m so glad it worked well for you and your granddaughter! Thanks for the tip :)
Hey! I just tried this recipe with my daughter and it didn’t work at all. It’s super sticky and gluey! :(
If it’s too sticky, you can add more saline solution or slime activator and it will pull it together. Keep kneading (wash hands if they’re too sticky) and it will come together after a minute or two.
Do you need shaving cream?
No, but it will make the slime more smooth and stretchy.
I realy love this recipe it is so fun for me to play with
it so lovely my children play with it for hoit
I love it!!! Thanks for sharing this recipe.
You are so welcome, Doris! :)
This slime was amazing! The tutorial was very helpful. I think you need a lot more activator in the recipe.
Happy to hear you enjoyed it! :)
Love ittt
Hi! I just want to ask a quick question, but can I use UHU permanent glue instead of Elmer white school glue? I lost mine. And I didn’t want to melt a bit of my UHU glue stick for just making the slime. Overall, I found some shaving cream that used to belong to my dad that he doesn’t need, and I can ask my mom if I could use some baking soda. Hope you have a good day,
Karina
Hi Karina,
Unfortunately I don’t think melting that glue down will work the same. Hopefully you’ll be able to try in the future!
So the recipe works great if you add enough Celine solution and shaving cream but you don’t if I had less shaving cream it’s sticky or it’s not slimer
It was so fun to make and play with…
Thanks for the tutorial!
You are so welcome! Glad you enjoyed it :)
I love this slime sooo much! I made a blue one and a yellow one, they are both so stretchy and fluffy! I accidentally stepped on the yellow one and a bit of it got stuck to my sock! (I got most of it of), I don’t think my mom is going to be very happy with that! But still, I love it soooo much! Thank you, bye!
So happy to hear you love the slime, Charlotte :)
wow this recipe really works!!!
great slime
