Homemade Snickers Bars
You guys are in for a real treat today! I’m sharing the most delicious recipe for homemade snickers bars! This recipe is simply AMAZING! I’m not going to tell you how many I ate. ;)
When it comes to no-bake desserts, these bad boys have now passed up my favorite Reese’s peanut butter bars. Homemade snickers combine my two favorite food groups – caramel candy and chocolate! Add a delicious nougat filling which combines butter, sugar, marshmallow fluff AND peanut butter and it’s irresistible.

How to Make Snickers
The best part about this snickers bar recipe is they are super easy to make. It takes a little bit of patience waiting for the layers to harden, but it’s worth the wait!
- Make the chocolate layer. Melt the chocolate chips and peanut butter in a microwavable bowl on 50% power. Cook for 1 minute and then stir. Continue cooking in 30 second increments until melted. Then pour the chocolate into a foil-lined (and sprayed) 9×13″ pan and spread out evenly. Place in the refrigerator for 20 minutes to harden.
- Combine nougat filling. Melt butter in a medium-sized pan over medium-heat. Add sugar and milk and stir until dissolved. Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes. Add in marshmallow fluff, peanut butter and vanilla and stir until smooth. Remove pan from heat and fold in peanuts and then spread the nougat filling on top of the chocolate layer. Cool completely.
- Make caramel layer. Cook caramel and whipping cream in a small saucepan over low heat for about 10-15 minutes (or until smooth), stirring occasionally. Pour over nougat layer and allow to cool completely.
- Final chocolate layer. Pour melted chocolate on top of caramel layer and spread out evenly. Place pan in refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours, or until ready to serve. Once they have cooled, you can literally pull the whole thing out of the pan. Slowly pull the foil off the sides and ooo and ahh at the delicious caramel. Cut into bars and enjoy!

- I wrap them up in wax paper and stamp a cute message on the top (I used these stamps). You could even place them in a cute little basket and wrap it up with ribbon.
- Simply store them in the refrigerator until you’re ready to pass them out. Your friends will take one bite and love you forever!

FAQs
Yes! Unless there is a nut allergy, try a different nut butter instead of peanut butter and used walnuts or another nut of choiced instead of the peanuts. For nut-free try sunflower butter and some crushed pretzels. It will taste different than Snickers but still be delicious.
Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Yes! I like to cut into squares then wrap in plastic wrap and store in a freezer safe container. Thaw in the refrigerator and enjoy.
Great recipe, simple instructions. We will def make this again!
I used semi sweet chocolate instead of milk to help cut the sweetness a bit. I think next time I will add 1.5-2 cups of chopped peanuts as it seemed to need more.
Glad you enjoyed the homemade snickers!
These look amazing, but I have two grandsons with extreme peanut allergies. Could them be made as the recipe states without the peanut butter added?
You could make them with an almond or sunbutter in place of the peanut butter
I’ve made this several times for family and co-workers. They are always a huge hit.
I’m so glad to hear they were a hit! One of my personal favorites!
Can I use a can of Dulce De Leche instead of making caramel sauce?
This should be just fine, Edith. Let me know what you think after you try it :)
Outstanding! Getting ready to make them for Christmas again this year.
Glad you love them! They are the perfect holiday treat :)
These are absolutely amazing…only question is, Do you ever have an issue with the top chocolate layer sticking to the caramel layer?
So glad you enjoy them :) If trying to cut cold, the chocolate can pop up a little. I usually set out about 10 minutes before cutting and that works well.
Absolutely! Only bad thing is everyone else thought it was fantastic and want more. The thing is they don’t want to make it themselves. Just got through with my 3rd batch. Can’t wait to try more of your recipes. Thank you for sharing. 😊
Yay! So glad that these were a hit with everyone!
I made these in silicone molds and they turned out perfect new family favourite!!
Great idea! I’m so glad your family loved them :)
your go cooking
It was delicious and very popular.
Yay! So glad everyone enjoyed it :)
Absolutely delicious!
Yay, I’m so glad you enjoyed them!
Omg these are soooooo good!!! Followed the instructions exactly and had no issues. They turned out perfectly and the recipe makes so many! Making more tomorrow!
Yay! I’m so happy to hear that Lindsey :) Thanks so much for your comment!
I have made these several times and they are always a hit. Super simple directions and always comes out the same each time. So good!!!
I’m so happy to hear that! Now I’m craving Snickers…mmm :)
This was the third time making these. Still delicious but I was extremely frustrated this time. The other two times I used a bag of Kraft caramels, which ended up being a few ounces less than what the recipe called for.
This time I used the full amount and omg what a mess! All of the caramel oozed out the sides. Even though I kept them in the fridge the caramel still all oozed out all over. Delicious but didn’t have any caramel lol.
I’m wondering if I can use caramel sauce in place of melting caramels? Happen to have on hand…
That should be fine if your caramel hardens while refrigerated. Carmel sauce sometimes is too thin and will make the bars really messy.
These were so delicious! I made them for my boyfriend for our anniversary and he loved them. They really do taste like Snickers, but with a bit more peanut flavor. Do you have any tips for making the chocolate solid at room temp so they don’t have to stay in the fridge? It makes them too hard to bite unless they sit out a bit. Thanks for the delicious recipe!
Taste exactly like a snickers!!!
Absolutely delicious
I’m wondering why you have 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips for the bottom layer and 1 1/4 cups for the top but the peanut butter amount is the same. I want to make these but I’m not sure if this is a typo.
Thanks!
Hi Allison! The bottom layer needs to be a little harder to hold up all the layers, so the extra chocolate helps it to do that.
Made these last year for Christmas. Easy to make and everybody raved about how good the are. More requests to make them again this year.
Would absolutely recommend these.
I’m so glad you loved them!
