Serving Tips for the Best Homemade Butterbeer
Now for the fun part: serving the butterbeer! We served ours in these tall, glass mugs with a fun striped straw. Below are some helpful tips to consider before serving:
- Keep it cold. Serve in cold glasses so the butterbeer doesn’t melt too fast. I stick mine in the freezer about 10 minutes prior to serving.
- Decorate. For a fun look, try drizzling more butterscotch into the glass before pouring the drink in.
- Frothy top! If you’d like to recreate the frothy top, add some whipped cream and butterscotch syrup on top for a whipped topping appearance.
- Add in more flavor. You can even add a Tablespoon of butterscotch to the whipped cream for more delicious flavor.

How many servings does this make? Also, have you come across a good flavored whipped topping recipe for this drink?
Hi Ali! This serves around 4. I haven’t found a good flavored whipped topping, but you could always add caramel into the whipped cream…I think it would be yummy! :)
Thanks Jamielyn. Caramel indeed is the best for this recipe. Keep posting… :)
Were you using the butterscotch syrup, like an ice cream topping version? I have been searching for a Torani type flavoring syrup. Let me know if you have a picture of the one you suggest!

Where have you found the butterscotch syrup? I’ve looked at every grocery store, and specialty store and they seem to have every flavor other than this one :)
