The best green smoothie recipe is a nutrient-packed blend of mango, banana and spinach! It’s healthy, vibrant and easy to make with only 4 ingredients in 5 minutes.
Healthy Green Smoothie
I love to make smoothie recipes for a quick and healthy breakfast or lunch. I often make this green smoothie recipe, along with my pineapple smoothie, strawberry banana smoothie, and mango smoothie bowl.
After making several of them, I think I’ve discovered the best green smoothie recipe! It perfect for beginners and won’t even taste like you’re drinking spinach but will help you detox and boost your digestive tract plus give you more energy!
Green Smoothie Ingredients
Start blending a specialty green smoothie drink recipe using pretty much any fruit and greens combo to create a delicious, energizing, and healthy smoothie!
Find the full printable recipe with specific measurements below.
- Liquid: The liquid included in this healthy smoothie helps it to easily blend. You can use regular milk, almond milk, coconut milk, or even some pineapple juice (or juice of choice).
- Greens: Incorporating leafy greens is such an easy way to add extra fiber. You get all the health benefits from the greens without even being able to taste them! I’ve found that spinach works best, however, feel free to add kale or greens of choice.
- Fruit: I typically add frozen bananas and mangoes, however pretty much any fruit would work. The bananas add natural sweetness and help to thicken the consistency of the smoothie…so if not adding in the banana, I would add a little more ice.
- Extras: Feel free to add in extras like Greek yogurt for creaminess, oat milk, collagen or protein powder for more protein.
Healthy Smoothie Recipe Add-Ins
Add in your favorite frozen fruit, spices, liquid base, or raw veggies to make this simple green smoothie recipe!

- Protein powder or collagen
- Chia seeds
- Flaxseed
- Rolled oats
- Honey or bee pollen
- Vanilla extract or powder for more flavor
- Coconut
- Avocado
- Herbs such as mint, basil, or ginger
- A squeeze of lemon or lime juice
Toppings:
- Coconut flakes

How to Make a Green Smoothie
Making this recipe is SO easy and takes only a couple of minutes. It is a smoothie you will be making day after day!
- Add ingredients: Add the milk and yogurt to the bottom of your blender.
- Blend: Add remaining ingredients on top of liquids and blend until smooth.
- Add in: If needed, add more ice cubes or liquid and blend. Enjoy while cold!
Tip: Use a High-Power Blender!
I should note, using a high-powered blender (like a Blendtec or ninja) helps blend all the spinach leaves. I’ve seen Blendtec do demos in Costco and have always thought they looked amazing! I did think the price tag was a little high though.
However now after using one for a few weeks, I’m sold! This blender is worth every penny! It creates the most smooth and delicious drinks! I was amazed that I couldn’t taste the texture of the spinach in the smoothie. Usually, mine gets clumps. This time around my kids had no idea what was in there. ;) I can’t wait to play with it some more.
Great for Meal Prep
Whenever I am doing big meal prep, I always end up making several smoothie bags to place in the freezer as well. I love this green smoothie recipe so much that I buy spinach in bulk and then freeze it in zip-lock bags. One package from Costco will be enough for TEN smoothies!
Portion out the fruit and spinach into Ziploc bags and then when you’re ready to make the smoothie, all you need to do is add in the milk and yogurt.
It’s the perfect grab-and-go breakfast or snack and makes it easy to reach for something healthy rather than a junk item from the pantry!
More healthy beverage recipes we love include mango smoothie, peach smoothie and cinnamon roll smoothie!

I just got a new blender, and tried it this morning with this recipe. It is amazing!! My daughters and I all loved it. You weren’t kidding when you said it was perfect. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
I’m so glad you and your daughters loved it! :)
This sounds good. I never thought of using oranges. I have had success with my two-year old drinking smoothies that consist of almond milk, spinach (or kale), chia seeds, 1 banana and 1 date. Its actually really good! We have had a lot of failure smoothies so I always look forward to new ideas that kids will enjoy to.
I’ve been drinking green smoothies too! I saw some people say they use almond milk and I just discovered that – it’s really good. My current combo is strawberries, a banana, orange juice, ice and spinach. Delich!
Sounds refreshing! Thanks for sharing Nicole! :)
Delicious green smoothie!
I loved this smothie. I’ve looked through your recipes and havn’t found any more smoothie recipes ect. I would like to know if you have any others, preferably without milk?

My daughter and I love green smoothies! My 11 month old had her first green smoothie today and loved it too! Our favorite is strawberries, bananas, blueberries, plain greek yogurt, spinach and kale with ice and water. So good and so good for you!
LOVE my green smoothie recipe…almost better than my fruit ones! :). Mine calls for vanilla yogurt (which I use plain yogurt & add a small dash of vanilla flavoring to cut out the sugar), avocado, spinach, frozen mango &frozen pineapple pieces, and water or almond milk if you prefer! If anyone wants the exact recipe, just let me know!! It’s YUMMY!!! :)
Yum! That sounds good. I’ll have to try it with the almond milk and vanilla. Thanks for sharing!
They are wonderful with almond milk and coconut water too! :) I also use lots of kale.
I would love your recipe. I am trying to drink more green smooties!!

Thank you so very much❣️ Here’s to happy smoothies ?
Your smoothies are very similar to ours, right down to the Costco spinach. :) I keep a bag of already peeled carrots on hand, too, and I’ll use a handful of frozen strawberries, too. I put flax seed and plain yogurt in them usually. My 14-year-old daughter hates to eat breakfast before school, but she’ll drink a smoothie. She prefers I don’t tell her what’s in them, though!
Smoothies are an awesome way to start a hot summer’s day. I’m curious as to how you receive products to review…
After trying for months to perfect my favorite smoothie combo, here it is:
1 cup almond millk
1/2 cup strawberries
1/2 cup blueberries
2 cups spinach
1/2 frozen banana
It’s delicious! After a good workout, Sometimes I will throw in a little chocolate protein powder and I love that too!
I do this one too, but use plain soy milk and add a little honey, 1/4 cup steel cut oats, and chia seed.
Sounds so delicious! Thanks for sharing! :)
We started making some combos like this recently. We found that adding blueberries takes away the green color, that seems to make it a bit more appetizing for those who don’t like the green color :)
I’ve been doing a 21 day bootcamp with lots of green smoothies. I think my fav is mango, blueberry, and kale. I always add a little water and ice at the bottom, then the fruit, and the greens. The frozen banans work great and thanks for the frozen spinach tip.
I just had a “duh!!” moment. Thank you so much for the tip on freezing smoothie size portions of spinach. We always buy the Costco spinach but it’s usually a race to use it all before it starts to get slimy. Eeew. ;)
I started making them a couple months ago and I am really enjoying it. It’s also helped me in my weight loss journey. I have made some total fails but I will definitely try this one, too!
I’ve been making green monsters for a month or so now. My favorite is:
1/4 – 1/2 cup of milk (depends on how much frozen stuff is in the blender)
1/4 cup greek yogurt
dash of cinnamon
handful of fresh strawberries
handful of frozen pineapple
handful of frozen mango
a few basil leaves
spoonful of chia seed
two big handfuls of spinach
My son loved his green smoothie, that is until he saw me making it with spinach. Haha!
We’ve been doing green smoothies for about a year now and my 5 yo actually complains if we are out if spinach lol! One tip I’ve learned if you’ve never tried it is to buy over ripe bananas (grocery stores will often give a discount if you ask), peel and freeze them. I add them frozen to our smoothies and it eliminates the need for ice. Plus frozen bananas when blended take on a super smooth creamy texture that definitely enhances the smoothie. Sometimes for my daughter I just do milk, frozen banana and spinach…she calls it her milkshake :) Yum!!!
