I make this dessert recipe all season long! It’s my go-to when I need a recipe to bring to a BBQ or am in need of a 4th of July dessert.

Easy Fruit Pizza
Fruit pizza, aka fruit cookie pizza, my all-time favorite fruit dessert. The buttery sugar cookie crust topped with tangy cream cheese frosting and fresh fruit is perfection. It’s tastes likes a mix between a fruit tart and a sugar cookie bar and is so, so delicious!
While I love a warm chocolate chip cookie pizza, I have to say that fruit pizza is my absolute favorite. Add your fruits and designs, use homemade dough or pre-made and it’s the perfect dessert for long summer days!
Fruit Pizza Recipe Ingredients
Find the full printable recipe with specific measurements below.
- Sure cookie dough: I used easy premade Pillsbury sugar cookie dough, but any store bought dough works. If you prefer from scratch, try my homemade sugar cookie recipe or a graham cracker crust.
- Frosting: Softened cream cheese, Cool Whip, vanilla extract and granulated sugar.
- Fresh fruit: For the best fruit pizza, I used a combination of berries including strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, mandarin oranges, kiwi and pineapple.
Favorite Fruits for Topping
You can use any type of fruit for this recipe! Drain canned fruit fully in a strainer and pat dry with a paper towel to avoid a soggy crust. If using fruits that brown quickly, such as apples or bananas, toss them with lemon juice.
- Strawberries
- Kiwi
- Mandarin oranges
- Raspberries
- Blueberries
- Blackberries
- Bananas
- Mangoes
- Grapes
- Pineapple
- Peaches or peach pie filling
How to Make Fruit Pizza
Slice or drain fruit and set on paper towels to absorb excess juices. In a large mixer bowl, whip together the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla. Fold in Cool Whip then chill.
Press the sugar cookie dough into the pizza pan. Pierce dough a couple times with a fork then bake at 350°F for 8-10 minutes, until edges are lightly golden. Cool sugar cookie crust completely.
Using a rubber spatula, spread an even layer of your chilled frosting over the cooled sugar cookie base. Top with fresh fruit!
Decorating Variations
- If you’re looking for a festive Memorial Day or Independence Day dessert, turn this dessert into a patriotic 4th of July fruit pizza!
- For brunch, make a sunrise design by using fresh oranges, strawberries and pineapple. Finish it off with some lemon zest for a refreshing taste.
- Shape into an oval shape for an Easter egg or make a rainbow shape.
- Can also be turned into individual fruit pizza cookies or bars.
Expert Tips
- Tropical: Try adding toasted coconut for a taste of the tropics.
- Fruit pizza glaze: Drizzle with a yummy fruit glaze or honey for extra sweetness.
- Frosting: Try one of my flavored cream cheese frostings, like strawberry cream cheese frosting or lemon cream cheese frosting.
- Double the recipe: When serving a crowd, double the recipe and bake in the shape of a rectangle on a sheet pan.
- Make-ahead: Bake the crust and prepare frosting. Wrap crust in plastic wrap to keep fresh. Store frosting in a container in the fridge. When ready to assemble, spread frosting and add fruit.
- Storage: Store pizza with fruit covered with plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to two days. After the first day, crust will start to get a little soggy.

FAQs
That beautiful thing about dessert pizza is that you can customize it with your favorite fruits and really nothing is off-limits. Keep in mind that fruits like apples, bananas and pears will brown quickly. Also, fruits with a thick skin such as peaches you might want to peel first.
While it is best to serve within 24 hours of assembling it can be tightly covered and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The sugar cookie crust will begin to soften and the fruit won’t be as fresh, but it will still taste good.
It will only get soggy as it sits. I recommended serving this recipe after assembling it to avoid any risk of sogginess.
