Best fruit to use
I’ve found that citrus fruits and fresh berries hold up really nicely. I’ll also add in some tropical fruits like coconut or mango sometimes too. And you can’t forget the fresh veggies and herbs! Cucumber, mint and basil are some of my favorites that add amazing flavor.

How to make fruit infused water
- Add fruit to bottom of jar. Place fruit in bottom of jar and pour water in. Stir fruit around.
- Press lightly on fruit to release flavors. Press on the fruit lightly with a spoon to release some of the flavors. Add mint leaves if desired.
- Refrigerate, then serve! Refrigerate for at least one hour (can even do overnight). Add ice just before serving. Enjoy!
FAQ’s
How long does it take to infuse? To get a strong, fruity taste, I’d recommend refrigerating the water for at least an hour. You can even let it chill overnight, which really helps bring out the fresh flavors.
How long does it last? I’d recommend enjoying within 3 days of making it. I’ve found that the fruit and herbs lose a bit of their freshness any longer than that.
Can you eat the fruit in infused water? Sure. The fruit typically isn’t as flavorful because the juices leak into the water over time, but it can’t hurt to try it! :)
What do you make it in? I love to use mason jar mugs, but you could use an infused water bottle as well. You could even double or triple the recipe in an infusion pitcher.

Thanks so much for this blog post. I’ve had a really hard time finding good recipes for infused water. I’ve tried lemon water, lime water, cucumber mint, lemon mint, and strawberry lemon mint. I liked the last one most. I still go to school is there a way I could just plop the fruits and veggies and whatever in my water bottle, add water and leave it that way? I don’t enough time for it to sit.
Best wishes,
Naomi
Hi Naomi! I would recommend doing it the night before and then pouring a glass in the morning! :)
