Fudgy Brownie Truffles
I love making truffles to bring to parties or celebrate special occasions. They’re super easy to make, yet look fancy and taste amazing. These brownie truffles are a favorite, as well as sugar cookie truffles, chocolate truffles, Oreo balls and chocolate chip cookie dough truffles.
You know those days when you just need chocolate? The days where you settle for semi-sweet chocolate chips because there is NO chocolate in the house. Well these brownie truffles, my friends, are the perfect treat to stash in your freezer…for those days! Ahem… your chocolate stash.
And trust me when I say that these chocolate brownie balls are SO GOOD! I should have put a key on my stash because they were gone a little too soon. ;) Perfectly fudgy and full of rich chocolate flavor. They remind me of my favorite fudge frosted brownies but in truffle form.
The best part about these brownie truffles is that they are so simple to make, yet they taste extravagant! Bring them to your next party and people will be begging for the recipe. Seriously addicting!
Only 3 Ingredients!
- Brownie mix: Just one box brownie mix made according to directions on package.
- Cream cheese: Half a block of cream cheese that is softened and smooth.
- Chocolate chips: For melting and coating the truffles. Melting wafers work too.
How to Make Brownie Truffles
Step 1: Bake brownies
Bake brownies according to directions on package. Make sure to not over bake. Let cool completely.
Step 2: Combine brownies and cream cheese
Scoop out brownies into a large bowl (leave out any hard edges). Then add in the softened cream cheese and mix together until combined.
Step 3: Roll mixture into balls
Roll the brownie mixture into balls and then place on a parchment-lined cookie sheet. Place in the freezer until the balls firm up, about 30 minutes.
Step 4: Coat brownie balls with chocolate
Melt the chocolate chips in a medium-sized bowl in the microwave. Then place the brownie ball on a fork and dip into the chocolate. Spoon chocolate on top as well. Once the ball is totally covered, tap the fork on the edge of the bowl to remove any excess chocolate. Place truffle carefully on the parchment paper.
Step 5: Place in freezer
Once all truffles are coated, place the baking sheet in the freezer until the chocolate hardens. They are best kept in the freezer. Remove about 5 minutes before serving.
Tips for Perfect Brownie Truffles
- Use a small cookie scoop to form mixture into equal sized balls.
- If the edges of your brownies have hardened, don’t use them. You want a soft, fudgy mixture.
- Milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips both work as coating. Melting wafers work too.
- Feel free to leave plain or top truffles with sprinkles, drizzled chocolate or extra brownie crumbles.
- To store: Will keep in fridge for up to 1 week if stored in an airtight container or bag.
- To freeze: Place in freezer bag or container and store in freezer for up to 1 month.

Did you make this recipe? Don’t forget to give it a star rating below!
Do I need to refrigerate or freeze these if I don’t use cream cheese as a binder?
No you won’t need to (although I do recommend the cream cheese to hold the dough together nicely).
Could you use something other then cream cheese to bind the brownies? Cant wait to try this recipe but would love something other then cream cheese :)
I haven’t tried, but you may be able to mix in a little buttercream as a binder (similar to a cake pop). Brownies are also pretty moist on their own, so you may be able to roll them into balls without adding anything extra. Let me know how it goes if you try it!
best thing I ever tried this is definitely a great dessert
I’m so happy you enjoyed them!

Quick questions:
How many truffles does this recipe yield?
Do you make the box brownies cake like or fudge like?
How many truffles depends on the size you end up making them! If the box has two different instructions, I’d go with the fudge-y recipe, but that’s what I prefer – it will work either way! :)
Hi. I had a few questions. Do you use milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips and how long in advance can they be made and how long can they stay in the freezer? Thanks.
I typically use milk chocolate, but semi sweet will work as well! :) These should freeze well if stored properly for a few weeks.
I’m wondering the same thing as Shannon above: what size pan of brownies do you use? 13×9, 9×9 or 8×8?
9×13! :)
Just tried these today for my Momma for Mother’s Day…. Really easy to make and really Yummy..
I’m glad you liked them Bonnie! They are so yummy! :)
About how many would you say this makes?
Hi Kelsie! It has been a while since I’ve made these, so I’m not positive how many it makes. I think it’s around 2 dozen! :)
I love brownies, cream cheese, and truffles …i will try soon.. :) :) <3 <3 <3
