Fudgy Brownie Truffles
I love making truffles to bring to parties or celebrate special occasions. They’re super easy to make, yet look fancy and taste amazing. These brownie truffles are a favorite, as well as sugar cookie truffles, chocolate truffles, Oreo balls and chocolate chip cookie dough truffles.
You know those days when you just need chocolate? The days where you settle for semi-sweet chocolate chips because there is NO chocolate in the house. Well these brownie truffles, my friends, are the perfect treat to stash in your freezer…for those days! Ahem… your chocolate stash.
And trust me when I say that these chocolate brownie balls are SO GOOD! I should have put a key on my stash because they were gone a little too soon. ;) Perfectly fudgy and full of rich chocolate flavor. They remind me of my favorite fudge frosted brownies but in truffle form.
The best part about these brownie truffles is that they are so simple to make, yet they taste extravagant! Bring them to your next party and people will be begging for the recipe. Seriously addicting!
Only 3 Ingredients!
- Brownie mix: Just one box brownie mix made according to directions on package.
- Cream cheese: Half a block of cream cheese that is softened and smooth.
- Chocolate chips: For melting and coating the truffles. Melting wafers work too.
How to Make Brownie Truffles
Step 1: Bake brownies
Bake brownies according to directions on package. Make sure to not over bake. Let cool completely.
Step 2: Combine brownies and cream cheese
Scoop out brownies into a large bowl (leave out any hard edges). Then add in the softened cream cheese and mix together until combined.
Step 3: Roll mixture into balls
Roll the brownie mixture into balls and then place on a parchment-lined cookie sheet. Place in the freezer until the balls firm up, about 30 minutes.
Step 4: Coat brownie balls with chocolate
Melt the chocolate chips in a medium-sized bowl in the microwave. Then place the brownie ball on a fork and dip into the chocolate. Spoon chocolate on top as well. Once the ball is totally covered, tap the fork on the edge of the bowl to remove any excess chocolate. Place truffle carefully on the parchment paper.
Step 5: Place in freezer
Once all truffles are coated, place the baking sheet in the freezer until the chocolate hardens. They are best kept in the freezer. Remove about 5 minutes before serving.
Tips for Perfect Brownie Truffles
- Use a small cookie scoop to form mixture into equal sized balls.
- If the edges of your brownies have hardened, don’t use them. You want a soft, fudgy mixture.
- Milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips both work as coating. Melting wafers work too.
- Feel free to leave plain or top truffles with sprinkles, drizzled chocolate or extra brownie crumbles.
- To store: Will keep in fridge for up to 1 week if stored in an airtight container or bag.
- To freeze: Place in freezer bag or container and store in freezer for up to 1 month.

This looks delicious. Just one question – what is ‘pan brownies’? Is it a ready-made mix for making brownies? Or do you have a separate recipe for pan brownies? (I’m in the UK, so sorry if it’s a US thing and this questions seems dumb!)
It’s just a box of brownie mix from the store. If they don’t sell brownie mix in Canada, you could use this recipe instead: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/best-brownies/
Wow, these sound amazing. I just made truffles yesterday but really wish I would have found this recipe first. Definitely bookmarking this for next time!!!
They are super yummy. Definitely try them next time. I hope you have a happy holidays! xo
What do you define as a “pan” of brownies? 9×13? 9×9? 8×8?
Jamielyn – these look so incredible! I love your photos!
So easy & they looks amazing! I am def. going to have to try these out.
I tried this recipe and it is great! I added some melted peanut butter to the chocolate for the coating. This, for me, turned out to be better than just the chocolate. Thank you for this recipe. I will definitely use this in the future.
That sounds good . How much peanut butter to chocolate and what type chocolate did you use
Do you use milk chocolate chips or semi sweet?
love truffles and chocolate! how long will these last in the freezer?
What an easy and great recipe! I’m going to try it today…because I like that I can keep it in the freezer for those chocolate craving moments.
These look delicious!
I’ve had issues with freezing the oreo truffles because they sweat under the candy shell – do you not have this problem with the brownie ones? or are they not sitting out after being frozen, just eaten as fast as they come out haha
I kept mine in the freezer so they would last longer and stay hard, but once I took them out they were fine. It was about an hour. There weren’t left out long though because they were eaten. LOL! I think it really depends on the chocolate too. Hope that helps. They’re super yummy!
oh I know those days… (don’t you need chocolate everyday though ??? I do ! I am a complete chocoholic)
I will definitely have to give this recipe a go
Thanks for sharing !

Can’t wait to try this ! I love brownies, cream cheese, and truffles!!!
Me too! Three of the best things! Mmm…
Wowza! I’m a big fan of Oreo cream cheese truffles, but I’ve never tried them made with brownies instead. I bet they would be the best. Dangerous, even. I’m powerless to resist even frozen cookie dough, much less truffles. . . I’ll definitely have to give them a try. :)
I love frozen cookie dough too! I’ve been wanting to try the cookie dough truffles. YUMMY!
glad I am not the only one diving into the chocolate chips when I am having a chocolate craving. I have been also known to make hot chocolate in the summer if I am really desperate.
Haha love it that I’m not the only one! We can join the chocoholics club together. ;)
