Perfectly seasoned, juicy baked chicken bites are an easy weeknight meal you can throw together in only 20 minutes. This family-friendly dinner can be served in a variety of ways!
Oven Baked Chicken Bites
Oven baked chicken bites are one of the most versatile and easy chicken breast recipes! They’re bite-size versions of an oven baked chicken breast and can be used for so many things.
These little bites of juicy chicken are perfectly seasoned then baked in the oven, and unlike my Chick-fil-A nuggets recipe, they’re not breaded, so they are nice and light! Dip them in sauce, add to wraps or use casseroles and rice bowls for a protein-packed meal.
Why I Love This Recipe
- It’s a quick way to jazz up chicken breast in 20 minutes!
- All my kids love them! That’s a win in my book.
Ingredients Notes
Find the full printable recipe with specific measurements below.
- Chicken breast: Boneless skinless chicken breasts, trimmed of any excess fat and cut into 1-inch pieces.
- Olive oil: Helps to give the chicken a nice brown exterior and give the cubes an even coat of seasoning.
- Seasoning: Salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, Italian seasoning.
- Butter: Adding diced butter into the dish so it melts as the chicken bakes is a great way to give them buttery flavor. Garlic herb butter would be extra yummy!
How to Make Baked Chicken Bites
Add the chicken cubes to a medium mixing bowl. Sprinkle with all the seasonings and toss to coat.
Transfer the bites into a prepared 9×13 baking dish, spreading chicken into a single layer so they’re not overlapping.
Top with pats of butter and bake the chicken bites for 15-20 minutes, stirring halfway. Serve garnished with fresh parsley and enjoy!
Recipe Tips and Variations
- Switch up the seasoning mix. Try onion powder, taco seasoning, ranch seasoning, Parmesan cheese, etc.
- Use chicken thighs. Instead of boneless chicken breasts, cut chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces instead.
- Add some heat. Sprinkle in some cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes for a little spice.
- Coat them in a sauce. Once they’re out of the oven, you can toss them in a sauce like Buffalo sauce or BBQ sauce for saucy chicken bites.
- Do not overbake. Chicken bites in oven bake faster than whole breasts at high heat, so don’t overdo it! They’ll be rubbery otherwise.
Serving Suggestions
- Side dishes: Steamed vegetables or green beans, rice, or potato wedges.
- Dipping sauces: Homemade BBQ sauce, ketchup, honey mustard sauce, Buffalo sauce.
- Salads: Add some protein to a Greek salad or cucumber tomato salad. You can also use these chicken pieces in a Cobb salad.
- Add to: Chicken pesto pasta, sheet pan quesadillas, or rice bowls.
Storage
- Store: Keep leftover chicken bites in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
- Freeze: These bites freeze beautifully for up to 1 month. Thaw them in the fridge overnight and reheat them in the oven or the microwave. The air fryer would be easy too.
