Reindeer Pretzels
I have such a cute and fun treat to share with you today! These are a fun twist on rolo pretzels. These Rolo pretzel reindeer are adorable, fun, and festive, and perfect for the holiday season!
They’re quick and easy to make, with just four ingredients, and so simple the kids can help too. You’ll start with a bag of Rolo candies, some small pretzels, red candy noses, and candy eyes.
My girls love any excuse to bake with candy eyes, so they were pretty thrilled to make these reindeer! These and gingerbread reindeer cookies make the perfect addition to Santa’s cookie plate.
4 Simple Ingredients
- Pretzels: We use the mini salted pretzels for this recipe. They make the perfect base.
- Rolos: These candies add the perfect flavor and face for the reindeer.
- Red candy: These will be the nose. You could use a red hot, red m&m or sixlet.
- Candy eyes: You can find these candy eyes in most baking sections at the grocery store.
How to Make Reindeer Pretzels
- Line and cut. Place 20 full pretzels on a baking sheet. Then cut the remaining pretzels in half for the antlers. I found it worked best to just be gentle and use a sharp knife.
- Rolos. Add the unwrapped rolos on top of the pretzels.
- Bake: Place the rolos on top of the pretzels and bake at 250°F for a few minutes until softened.
- Assemble: I did all of the assembling immediately since the pan was still very warm from the oven. I found that it worked best to add the eyes, then the nose, then the antlers. It’s important to work fast so the chocolate doesn’t have time to firm up before you’ve finished decorating all your cute reindeer.
And voila! Adorable reindeer treats that are perfect for sharing with friends this holiday season! I love that each bite is such a tasty combination of chewy caramel and crunchy pretzel. These Rolo pretzel reindeer are as delicious as they are cute!

Rolo Pretzel Reindeer
Video
Ingredients
- 40 small pretzels , divided
- 20 ROLO’S
- 40 candy eyes
- 20 small round red candies , m&m's or sixlets
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 250°F. Place 20 of the pretzels on a baking sheet lined with parchment or foil.
- Top each pretzel with a Rolo candy. Then carefully cut the remaining pretzels in half to form antlers. I like to use a steak knife and gently saw the middle half way through to create a seam. Then I break in half. Set broken pretzels aside.
- Place the baking sheet with the pretzels and Rolos in the oven and bake 3 minutes, or until the candies are softened.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and add eyes, nose, and antlers to each reindeer. Work quickly before the chocolate cools and hardens.
- Allow the reindeer to cool completely before serving.

This was fun. On one batch the chocolate greyed on top as it cooled. I’m guessing something about temperature?
Yes, this is called chocolate bloom and can happen sometimes when chocolate experiences temperature changes. It’s still fine to eat them! Enjoy!
This recipe was so fun and cute 😊 thank you for this fun idea!
So happy to hear you enjoyed it, Brooke :)
Impossible to break/cut pretzels for the ears. I just used one pretzel and made the large loops the antlers.
I tried two different brands of pretzels and even with my sharpest knife they just broke into pieces. None of them turned out as cute as the ones in this recipe but they were still fun to make.
Can these be frozen once made?
Hi Tressa! I haven’t tried it, but I would think that the moisture from freezing the pretzels could cause them to taste a little stale. I would just store in an airtight container.
These are one of our favorite treats to make around the holidays! So cute and the best sweet and salty flavors!
Hi. How long would these last in cellophane bags once made?
I would recommend eating them within a few days! :)
I made these last night. Silly me used red hots for the nose and my 3 year old grandchild’s eyes nearly popped out with the spice. It will be M&M or skittles next time. The pretzel antlers, well that was fun. lol Thank you so much for this cute idea.
My kids would do the same thing! I usually use m&ms or sixlets. :)
Making these for my grandaughter’s Christmas party.
So cute! What is your trick to cutting the pretzels in half without them breaking! Thanks!
I actually just break them and hope for the best! Luckily, we don’t mind eating broken pieces. :)
I put my thumb and finger in the upper loops of the pretzel on a cutting board. As I cut with a sharp knife I gently pulled outward on the loops. Still had crumbles to munch but not as many! Hope this helps.
Thanks for the tip! :)
Where does one get candy eyes?
Hi Linda! You can find them on Amazon: http://amzn.to/1lZOFPG or at a crafting store such as Hobby Lobby.
These are so cute – I know my granddaughter would love ’em! Thanks for sharing. I have already passed this on to several of my friends!
These are darling! Would you share what kind of “red” candy you used for the nose and for the candy eyes is there a certain size for them? I know they come in different sizes! Thank you so much! Elizabeth
For ease, I would pick out some red candy coated chocolates from a standard bag of mixed-colored candies. I’ve also bought the packs of color coated candies and eyes from craft stores. :)
