Easy Halloween Brownies Recipe
I love easy Halloween recipes. Whether I make these Halloween brownies, mummy cookies or Halloween cake pops I love watching kids eyes light up when they see a cute and spooky Halloween dessert!
These Halloween chocolate brownies are simple to make from scratch and taste just as delicious, too. Serve them at Halloween parties accompanied by some witches brew, pumpkin shaped cookies and handful of Halloween Chex mix, too!
Recipe Ingredients
Find the full printable recipe with specific measurements below.
- Fudgy chocolate brownies: I used my homemade brownies but you can use store-bought brownies.
- White melting wafers: I love Ghirardelli but any white chocolate melting wafers or white chocolate chips will work.
- Candy eyeballs: Find these in the baking aisle of your grocery store or near the Halloween decorations.
Variations
- Icing: Instead of white chocolate mummies, try a cream cheese frosting or vanilla frosting. Chilling frosting before piping it can help it hold its shape.
- Graveyard Halloween brownies: Instead of decorating with icing, you make use Milano cookies for tombstones like I do in my Halloween Dirt Cake.
- Brownie base: Use your favorite homemade brownie recipe instead. Make cheesecake brownies for Halloween, make cake mix brownies or even caramel brownies.
- Vegan or gluten free: Use a store-bought gluten-free brownie mix. For vegan, replace butter with oil, eggs with applesauce and decorate with a dairy free frosting.
How to Make Halloween Brownies
In a large bowl, whisk melted butter, vegetable oil, sugar, and brown sugar. Add eggs and vanilla then whisk for about a minute.
Next, add flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Stir brownie batter until barely combined. Fold in chocolate chips. Bake in a 9×13 parchment lined baking dish for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes clean.
Cool 30 minutes, then lift Halloween brownie recipe out of pan and cool completely on wire rack. For spider webs, cut into squares; for mummies and ghosts, cut into rectangles.
Decorating
To start, melt the white chocolate melting wafers in the microwave in intervals until smooth then add melted chocolate to a zip top bag and cut off a small corner.
- Mummy brownies: Pipe ribbons of chocolate back and forth to create a mummy pattern, and decorate with candy eyeballs before the chocolate sets.
- Spider webs: Pipe long lines in corners of square brownies, then connect with more lines of chocolate to create a web shape.
- Ghosts: Spoon a dime sized circle onto the brownie and use the back of a rounded spoon handle to “smear” the middle downward. Decorate with candy eyeballs before the chocolate sets.

Instructions
Brownies
- Prepare: Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9×13" baking pan with parchment paper and lightly spray with cooking spray. I like to leave enough parchment paper to easily lift them out.
- Whisk the wet ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk 1 cup melted butter, 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil, 2 cups sugar, and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Add 4 eggs and 4 teaspoons vanilla and whisk for about a minute.
- Add the dry ingredients: Next, add 1 cup flour, 1 cup cocoa powder, and 1 teaspoon salt. Stir just until barely combined. Add 1 cup chocolate chips and stir until smooth. Be careful to not over mix.
- Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes clean. Be careful not to overbake.
- Cool: Let cool 30 minutes, then lift brownies out of pan using the parchment that is overhanging. Cool completely on wire rack, then cut into 24 pieces. For spider webs, cut into squares; for mummies and ghosts, cut into rectangles.
Mummy Brownies
- Melt white chocolate: Put white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and cook on low power in 15–20 second intervals, stirring after each interval, until smooth.
- Make mummies: Add melted white chocolate to a zip top baggie and cut off a small corner. Pipe ribbons of chocolate back and forth to create a mummy pattern, and decorate with candy eyeballs before the chocolate sets.
Spider Web Brownies
- Melt white chocolate: Put white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and cook on low power in 15–20 second intervals, stirring after each interval, until smooth.
- Make spider webs: Add melted white chocolate to a zip top baggie and cut off a small corner. Pipe long lines in corners of square brownies, then connect with more lines of chocolate to create a web shape.
Ghost Brownies
- Melt white chocolate: Put white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and cook on low power in 15–20 second intervals, stirring after each interval, until smooth.
- Make ghosts: Spoon a dime sized circle onto the brownie and use the back of a rounded spoon handle to “smear” the middle downward. Decorate with candy eyeballs before the chocolate sets.
