Why I Love These Halloween Witch Hat Cookies

Substitutions and Variations

  • Cookie type. Any fudge stripe cookie works for this Halloween cookie idea as does Oreos and chocolate covered Oreos.
  • Peanut butter cookies. Use my recipe for classic peanut butter blossoms and pipe orange frosting around the chocolate kiss and add sprinkles.
  • Instead of orange frosting: Use orange Wilton candy melts that have been melted or use a variety of colors like yellow, green and purple. You can even use a store bought tube frosting to make it even easier.
  • Mini M&Ms: If you would like your witch hat cookie to have a buckle you can add a mini M&M. Use a dab of frosting or gel food coloring to attach it to the kiss.

How to Make Witch Hat Cookies

Dip the bottom of one Hershey kiss into the orange frosting, going up the sides of the kiss just a tad.

Place the sprinkles into a small bowl. Then, dip the kiss into the sprinkles and place over the hole of the non-striped side of the cookie. If my kids are helping, I like to do this on a baking sheet to contain the sprinkles.

That’s it, such an easy Halloween treat! Store witch hat cookies in an airtight container for up to a week. If you need to stack cookies, place parchment paper between layers.

These are so cute for Halloween parties or classroom events with other treats like Halloween chocolate brownies.
