Monster Munch Chex Mix Ingredients
Find the full printable recipe with specific measurements below.
- Cereal: Rice Chex cereal and original Cheerios are my preference but corn Chex also works or you could do a combination with wheat Chex.
- Pretzel sticks: Breaking these in halve makes it that much easier to munch on this monster munch Chex mix. You can also use 1-2 cups bite-size pretzel twists.
- M&Ms: I used the autumn colored Fall M&Ms to stay with theme of a recipe for Halloween Chex mix.
- Candy corn: My favorite are the yellow, orange and white, but you can use the autumn mix or just candy pumpkins.
- White chocolate melting wafers: I used Ghirardelli wafers as they melt more smoothly than white chocolate chips.
How to Make Halloween Chex Mix
In a large bowl, combine the Chex cereal, Cheerios, pretzels sticks, candy corn and M&M’s. Place white chocolate in a large microwavable bowl and melt in 30 second increments before pouring over cereal mixture and tossing gently to coat.
Pour Halloween Chex mix onto a piece of wax or parchment paper. Sprinkle M&M’s and Halloween sprinkles on top while the chocolate is warm. Allow to set until hardened then break into pieces and enjoy right away or store for a Halloween party, game day or other event.
Tips and Variations
- How to Melt Chocolate: To avoid the chocolate from burning melt in 30 second increments stirring in between or cook on a double broiler. To avoid the white chocolate from seizing ensure your melting bowl is free from any droplets of water.
- Adapt to any holiday: Just change the candy colors or mix-ins! I love to use pink and red for this Valentine Chex mix, the white chocolate coating is so addicting.
- Sweet and salty snack mix: Add some honey roasted peanuts, cashews, dry roasted peanuts or any other nut you like. This makes it similar to a decadent trail mix.
- Cereal: Use any variety of Chex you like in this easy Halloween snack mix, even fun varieties like Chocolate Chex or peanut butter Chex. Honey Nut Cheerios works, too!
- Fun add-ins: Halved caramels, Wilton candy eyes, Reese’s pieces, Bugles or other Halloween cereal. If you are adding more than the recipe calls for, adjust the chocolate accordingly.

Recipe FAQs
While you can store Halloween Chex mix on the counter, I find that the white chocolate tends to get soft. I prefer to store it in the refrigerator in an airtight container. Stored properly it should last a few weeks.
Yes, cool completely then place in a sealed container or zip top bag for up to 3 months. Remove 30 minutes before ready to serve. It’s also great cold eo enjoy by the handful straight out of the freezer. This Halloween Chex mix recipe won’t last long!
